Fez to Merzouga Tour 2 Days
DAY 1 – Ifrane – Cedros Forest – Merzouga – Camp in the Desert
We will pass by you to your Riad / Hotel at 8:00 a.m. and we will go south crossing the Middle Atlas until we reach Ifrane. This is a city that will make you feel out of Morocco – it seems more like a place in Europe than in Africa. They will have time to take photographs and explore the city for a while. Once they are ready we will continue towards the Cedros Forest where they will be able to interact with the friendly monkeys of the place. After saying goodbye to your new friends, we will go to Midelt to have lunch and rest for a while.
After lunch we will cross the Ziz Valley and its immense palm grove – one if not the largest palm grove in the world. From here you will begin to feel the desert environment as the landscapes begin to change when we enter Errachidia.
We will stop to take some pictures before arriving at Merzouga where the cameleher will be waiting for you. Once they have learned to wear the Moroccan turban they will climb onto their dromedary and cross the Sahara to see the sunset on top of a dune. Then they will go to their camp in the middle of the desert.
After dinner you can enjoy an authentic Berber show with drums and nostalgic songs around a bonfire. To end your magical night in the desert all you have to do is relax and look up – there you will find the most beautiful sky and with more stars than you have ever seen.
DAY 2 – Merzouga – Ziz – Midelt – Fez
On your second day we invite you to wake up early and walk to the highest dune around the camp. There you can see how the sun slowly appears between two immense mountains. This is something that should not be missed, we promise that it will be worth it! After breakfast they will return in camerometo to Merzouga. Once we are back in our 4X4 we will go north crossing the Palm Grove of Tafilalet until we reach the Ziz Valley. We will stop here to take some pictures and to see the town of Aoufous from a privileged place. Then we will go to Midelt to have lunch and rest a little before going to the Cedar Forest and visit the monkeys once more.
We will bid farewell once we arrive in Fez and leave them back at their Riad / Hotel. .
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
The Zagora desert in Morocco is small and you will not be able to see tall dunes as seen in the photographs. If this is what you are looking for we recommend taking our 3-day tour to the desert of Merzouga.
