Fez Tour to Marrakech 4 Days (via Merzouga)
DAY 1 – Ifrane – Cedros Forest – Merzouga – Camp in the Desert
We will pass by you to your Riad / Hotel at 8:00 a.m. and we will go south crossing the Middle Atlas until we reach Ifrane. This is a city that will make you feel out of Morocco – it seems more like a place in Europe than in Africa. They will have time to take photographs and explore the city for a while. Once they are ready we will continue towards the Cedros Forest where they will be able to interact with the friendly monkeys of the place.
After saying goodbye to your new friends, we will go to Midelt to have lunch and rest for a while. After lunch we will cross the Ziz Valley and its immense palm grove – one if not the largest palm grove in the world. From here you will begin to feel the desert environment as the landscapes begin to change when we enter Errachidia.
We will stop to take some pictures before arriving at Merzouga where the cameleher will be waiting for you. Once they have learned to wear the Moroccan turban they will climb onto their dromedary and cross the Sahara to see the sunset on top of a dune. Then they will go to their camp in the middle of the desert.
After dinner you can enjoy an authentic Berber show with drums and nostalgic songs around a bonfire. To end your magical night in the desert all you have to do is relax and look up – there you will find the most beautiful sky and with more stars than you have ever seen.
DAY 2 – Erg Chebbi – Nómadas – Khamlia – Merzouga
On the second day we invite you to wake up early in the morning to watch the sunrise in the desert. After breakfast you will return to Merzouga on your camel so that we can start exploring the Erg Chebbi Dunes. We will take the road of the Paris-Dakar Rally that will take us to the Oasis of Tissardmin. Here you can pick fossil stones and we will continue our way to visit the nomadic fields. They will enter a real nomad tent and can share with them to learn a little of their customs and traditions.
Our next stop is the village of Khamlia, here you will have a nice time listening to the Gnawa spiritual music.
After lunch in the village we will take you to your accommodation and have the afternoon free to relax and watch the beautiful sunset in the nearby dunes. After dinner at your hotel you can walk under the stars and enjoy your last night in the Sahara desert.
DAY 3 – Rissani – Todra – Gargantas de Dades
After breakfast we will go back to our 4X4 and we will go to Rissani. Here you will really see another culture and if it is Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday you will also have the opportunity to walk around the huge market for a while. Leaving behind this interesting town we will go to Erfoud where if we wish we will visit a fossilized marble factory. We will continue our way crossing the palm grove of Touroug until we reach the Gorges of Todra – a spectacular canyon that is quite popular among rock climbers.
We will have lunch here and then have time to explore this wonder of nature. Once they are ready we will leave for the Dades Valley where you can take some of the best photographs of your entire trip.
The natural rock formations called «Monkey fingers» leave many speechless because it is hard to believe that these stones are real. After dinner at your hotel you will spend a relaxed night watching the sky, we assure you that many shooting stars cross this beautiful valley!
DAY 4 – Ouarzazate – Ait-Ben-Haddou – Marrakech
After breakfast we will take you to a viewpoint where you can see the whole Valley of Dades. After taking pictures we will take the «Road of the Thousand Kasbahs.» We will make several stops to appreciate the beautiful landscapes and the Valley of Roses. After passing the Palm Grove of Skoura we will stop in Ouarzazate and visit the Kasbah Taourirt and Atlas Studios. We will continue our journey until we reach the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait-Ben-Haddou. We will explore this fortified city and then have free time to rest and have lunch.
After lunch we will start our way to Marrakech crossing the High Atlas and the imposing Tizi n’Tichka.
We will make several stops to take more pictures and arrive in Marrakech at approximately 6:00 p.m. Once we leave them at your Hotel / Riad we say goodbye and finish our services.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
The Zagora desert in Morocco is small and you will not be able to see tall dunes as seen in the photographs. If this is what you are looking for we recommend taking our 3-day tour to the desert of Merzouga.
